At May 2017, The European Commission has awarded the University of East Sarajevo a logo of
excellence in research (HR Excellence in Research) whereby UES is included in a group of
European universities that have a certificate of quality in scientific research and who want to
ensure a quality business environment for their researchers. Through this log of excellence in
research, the University has shown its commitment to be actively involved in European research
space through various programs, by harmonizing its legislation and organizational research
structure with a European model in accordance with the European Researcher's Charter and the
Employment Research Code of the researchers.
Rector of the University of East Sarajevo, Radoslav Grujic, said that UES will use logo of
excellence in research as a significant feature according to which it will be recognized as one of
the universities engaged in scientific research and artistic work and have a lot of results behind,
and plans to significantly improve and adhere to the EHEA (European Higher Education Area).
Using this logo will significantly contribute to the international recognition of the University of
East Sarajevo, which is especially important when applying for international projects.
The Logo of Excellence implies that the University of East Sarajevo complies with the principles
and principles prescribed by the EU by The European Charter for Researchers and the Code of
Employment of Researchers, concerning the rights and obligations of researchers and that the
recruitment procedures at the University are harmonized with the European.
On February 7, 2013, the University of East Sarajevo signed the Declaration of Accession of the
European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers,
obliging itself to respect the principles of the Charter and Code, and to harmonize its legal acts
with the principles of the Charter and Code. On May 19, 2017 The European Commission have
informed UES that after institution’s comprehensive analysis and action plan meet all the
requirements for the use of the ‘HR Excellence in research’ award/icon.
